Verbs – (Doing Words or Action Words)

Read the following sentences.

1. I walk to school every day.

2. The train runs on rails.

3. The fish swim in the sea.

4. It hops a lot.

5. The bell rang.

The highlighted words in the above sentences tell us what the people and things are doing. These words express an action.

Words which show what people and things are doing are called Verbs.
They are also called Action Words.

Sometime a verb ends in ‘ing’ to show what people or things are doing.

Example:

1. He is painting.

2. Ria was waiting.

3. I like cooking.

4. She is watching television.

5. Ravi is studying
